International Association for Jazz Education

Hundreds of jazz musicians and educators and thousands of spectators converged on New York City in January 2006. Several monumental canvasses by E.J. Press Release

JazzArt ®: SEE WHAT YOU'VE BEEN HEARING!

by Beverly Korenwaser

Grass Valley, CA, December 13, 2005 -- In the spirit of joyous collaboration between Jazz and Art, JazzArt ® is in its fourth year at the International Association for Jazz Education's supercharged annual conference.

Just as Jazz is a continuing process of exploration, JazzArt ® strives toward a more free and honest expression of the soul, making visible the sublime sounds of the most celebrated of all American art forms.

Here is what Howard Mandel, President of the Jazz Journalists Association, recently wrote about E.J. Gold and his JazzArt ® in "Jazz Notes":

"With large, bold, rhythmic sweeps of color depicting jazz players in action against black or white backgrounds, painter, E.J. Gold has created his trademark 'JazzArt ®' for events ranging from Wynton Marsalis gigs to Hollywood Bowl concerts, including IAJE conferences since 2002 and the JJA Jazz Awards since 2003 ... Gold's work strikes this reporter as sometimes having a slapdash yet vivid, iconic effect, quite like a fast and memorable phrase of jazz."

E.J. Gold is a veteran Listed artist with over 1,000 exhibits over a period of more than 50 years; his work is collected by many celebrities and museums worldwide. His artwork has been featured on national television and in major motion pictures, and he has appeared with his band for audiences as large as 150 million viewers on international television.

If you were privileged to attend Herbie Hancock's performance last year at IAJE in Long Beach, California, or you heard George Duke & Friends, Christian McBride, Billy Cobham, Airto, Kenny Garrett, Roy Hargrove, Bobby Hutcherson and Dianne Reeves, at the Hollywood Bowl, you saw E.J. Gold's JazzArt ® onstage.

What a vivid celebration of Jazz! JazzArt ® is honored to once again be a part of this Grand Event that brings the spirit and soul of Jazz to the world community, and extends deepest appreciation to Steve Baker, Executive Producer; Bill McFarlin, Executive Director; Nathan Murphy, Associate Producer, for their love of Jazz and support of JazzArt ®.
