Zoe Alowan is a frequently exhibited portrait and plein air painter whose teachers included Alma Schaefer Gardener, Paul Arnold and Toby Raetze. She holds a degree in art from Oberlin College, is one of the leaders of the Woodstock Impressionist Workshop and was one of the founding members of Grass Valley Graphics Group. Her prints are distributed by Shoestring Prints. She is also Director of the Children's Art Academy of the Museum of Ancient and Modern Art. She contributed three monumental canvasses to the Wynton Marsalis Concert installation, representing jazz greats Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and Ethel Waters.
